The movie all packed with star-glam power, has a thrilling story full of suspense and compassion… so much so that the viewer could actually relate to it. The targeted audience was the students and the youth, but the movie had a massive appeal across all age –groups. From kids to adolescents to youth to middle-aged groups , it was a blockbuster hit among all.

The plot revolves around 3 young fellows (depicted in the movie as 3 idiots…on a comical side), all coming from different backgrounds and families and finally securing admission in an elite Engineering college. The movie goes on to show different aspects like the highly competitive academic environment (a sort of rat race among students to secure admissions in esteemed Engineering colleges)…. the dilemma a youth faces regarding career choices, the extreme social, family and financial pressure the youth face while making career decisions, the inability of the youth to pursue their own ambitions and chase their own dreams etc.

College life (of particularly engineering colleges) is beautifully depicted, to which the students easily identify themselves. The movie has shades of all emotions, the fear and anxiety a student faces once he/she enters college, the gradual mixing up with peers, some becoming best of buddies… some trapped as scapegoats , the student-teacher relation is also wonderfully shown as a bitter-sweet relation.

The movie goes on to show the trouble students face during higher studies, how one navigates his/her way out of problems the strong friendship b/w peers etc.

All in all, it’s a perfect return for ticket-money paid. The plot takes the viewer across emotions of subtle humour to loud laughter, to suspense, to feelings of anxiety, love, care and compassion .It’s one of those movies that separates itself from the regular plots that are either majorly romantic or comical…3 Idiots is a complete bag.

And besides the lyrical songs in the melodious voice of Sonu nigam, Shaan and Shreya Ghosal are awesome. The songs fits beautifully in the plot sequence and coupled with shooting locations –Ladakh, Shimla, Bangalore the Indian viewer can completely feel himself immersed in the movie. And morever, the movie couldn’t have been such a big hit without the talented acting of Aamir Khan playing the lead role. Kareena, playing Aamir’s love interest nicely blended with the movie theme and no to forget the supporting actors-R.Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Bomi Irani who played their part to near perfection… However the most appreciated was the role-play of Omi Vaidya (as Chatur Ramalingam in the movie)… A role of a sort of a geek, blindly competing in the rat race and valuing bookish knowledge more than practical knowledge.

The biggest reason, however that made the movie such a big hit was the social message it carried, the message that

‘Youth should always pUrsue their own ambitions> Parents should not burden their children with their own expectations’

It also hints towards the reformation needed in our education policies.

3 Idiots has everything a viewer can ask for.. A must watch for all!
