5 US TV Show Premieres You Cannot Miss This Season

For all you English entertainment buffs out there, the 2015-16 season of TV shows is here! In addition to many returning TV shows that are back with an all-new-season such as Homeland (season 5), Downton Abbey (season 6-finale season) and Modern Family (season 7), there are a host of new shows lined up with their first seasons ready to catch your eyeballs.

Here, I list 5 shows that are creating the most buzz and are definitely worth giving a try!

  1. Quantico

Genre: Drama, Crime & Mystery

Official Synopsis: A look at the lives of young FBI recruits training at the Quantico base in Virginia when one of them is suspected of being a sleeper terrorist.

Starring:Priyanka Chopra, Josh Hopkins among others.

Date of US premiere: 27th September


The much awaited US TV debut of Priyanka Chopra sees her as the trainee FBI agent Alex Parrish at the Quantico base in Virginia, USA. She is soon suspected of being the sleeper terrorist who orchestrated the biggest terror attack on US soil since 9/11. Is Alex guilty or innocent? Find out yourself over the 10 episodes in the first season of this show.

  1. Blindspot

Genre: Mystery, Thriller

Official Synopsis: A lady with tattoos all over her body is found unconscious in a bag. She has no identification documents nor any memory of her past. The name of an FBI agent is tattooed on her back.

Starring: Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown.

Date of US premiere: 21st September


This TV series has been getting rave reviews and a lot of interest. Stapleton (known for 300: Rise of Empire) plays the FBI agent who tries to unravel the mystery behind the lady and her tattoos and as to how and why he is connected to the entire plot. Watch the plot thicken in this 7-episode season.

  1. Agent X

Genre: Action

Official Synopsis: Hidden from the view of the public – and even from the US President – there is a top secret agent who is trained and ready to serve, deployed only at the careful discretion of the Vice President.

Starring: Jeff Hephner, Sharon Stone, John Shea.

Date of US premiere: 8th November


The show tries to add action and drama to the otherwise monotonous office of the Vice-President of the USA through an agent who operates only under his instructions. Jeff Hephner (Interstellar) plays the titular character. The gorgeous Sharon Stone also has a crucial and recurring role. This 10-episode opening season tries to look at some mysterious operations that Agent X handles under exclusive instructions from the Vice-President of the USA.

  1. American Horror Story: Hotel

Genre: Horror

Official Synopsis: Detective and family man John Lowe investigates a chain of gruesome murders in Los Angeles. A mysterious tip points him to the enigmatic Hotel Cortez.

Starring: Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson among others.

Date of US premiere: 7th October


Though technically not a new show- but an entirely new story cast and season of the vastly popular anthology series American Horror Story (AHS) – now in its fifth season. The biggest highlight of this season is Lady Gaga’s television debut- she plays a lead role in the season. Other cast members include the regular AHS cast such as Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters and Denis O’ Hare among others. Another interesting cast addition this season is Mädchen Amick (known for the 1990s cult classic Twin Peaks). Don’t forget to “check-in” into this spooky hotel on 7th October for a 13-episode stay.

  1. Limitless

Genre: Science Fiction

Official Synopsis: A man gains the ability to use the full extent of his brain’s capabilities.

Starring: Jake McDorman, Jennifer Carpenter.

Date of US premiere: 22nd September


A 6-episode TV adaptation of the 2011 movie of the same name, the show attempts to closely look at all the consequences when a man gains the ability to put his brain to full use. Starring Jake McDorman (Live Free or Die Hard) in the lead role and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) as the FBI agent who tries to track the “super-human” down, the show will be put to some serious scrutiny by the fans of the 2011 movie.

So, don’t forget to catch these if TV shows are your staple. I am sure you’ll not be disappointed.
