Amid the Apple iPhone 6 plus fiasco which involved the smartphone’s bending (almost like Beckham) and complaints against its latest iOS software, BlackBerry has launched its Passport on Monday at the price of Rs 49,990. With its price reaching almost as high as that of iPhone’s, Passport is expected to do just as good as the iPhone; or for that matter with the current reputation of the newly launched iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, even better.
BlackBerry Passport is unique and stylish. It comes in an unconventional square-shaped 4.5 inches screen. The smartphone features a QWERTY touch keyboard which can also be swiped for typing. The smartphone has been styled to look like a passport. The company’s target customers are those associated with business and professionals as the smartphone has various apps and tools available that make it easier to read emails, access bank accounts etc. The camera comes with a 13 megapixel camera with a 2 megapixel front camera.
Even though the target is business professionals, BlackBerry Passport is expected to better since Apple is likely to lose customers for its newly launched iPhone 6. With price lower than that offered by Apple, Passport is certainly going to be an attraction in the market.

BlackBerry had ruled the Indian market for very long; its smart messaging app, BBM being the attraction. However, with the emergence of Apple and Samsung that provided Whatsapp and also BBM as smart-messenger and other apps better than those available in BlackBerry, the company within no time lost its customers. BlackBerry Passport however appears to be an intriguing innovation. The analysis of its performance in the market is being awaited till Samsung’s Note 4 and Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are out for sale.
