Beyoncé Knowles: The One True Diva

“Who run the world?” Beyoncé!

This is not your average fangirl rant, it’s an article to show the world the awesomeness that is Beyoncé, nevertheless, it’s still a fangirl article.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on the 4th of September, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Inspired by Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, Beyoncé considers performing to be her ‘true calling’. She started performing at the tender age of five. Her magnificent solo career started in 2003, after she pulled out from her band Destiny’s Child. She is today, a world renowned pop music icon, creating chartbuster R&B songs. She is considered to be one of the very few vocal acrobats in the music industry, with her vocal octave capable ofachieving excellence in ballads, soul and hip hop.  The New York Times describes her voice as “velvety yet tart, with an insistent flutter and reserves of soul belting”.  Apart from being a spectacular singer, she dances like a dream and can make jaws drop with her signature ‘Pump Walk’. Her ‘Single Ladies’ which reached number one on Billboard Hot 100 soon after its release was also the first authentic dance trend that the world has ever seen.

Queen Bee, Bey, Yoncé, Queen of Hearts are some of the many names given to Beyoncé by her dedicated fans who collectively call themselves the ‘Bey Hive’. Beyoncé is The Diva, best believe it, and we have plenty of reasons to validate this.

Sasha Feirce is Beyoncé’s alter ego, and also the centre force of her 2008 album I Am… Sasha Feirce. Beyoncé says that she needs Sasha to bring out the ferocity in her which she needs during her power packed concerts. And what’s better than one Beyoncé?  Two Beyoncés!

Critics have acclaimed that in Beyoncé’s career of 18 years, she has never had a dull performance. She hits the home run each and every time.

Beyoncé is also an established songwriter. The term ‘Bootylicious’, used in the famous Destiny’s Child was coined by Beyoncé and also included in the Oxford English Dictionary in 2006. Beyonce’s perfume line is the bestselling celebrity fragrance in the world. You see, we just can’t run out of reasons to adore her! She can charm you with her grace, make you go ‘Aww!’ when she cuddles her three-year old, Blue Ivy and she can make you laugh with her wit and goofiness. There’s nothing this woman isn’t capable of.

Beyoncé is a devoted humanitarian as well. She donated her song ‘I Was Here’and all its proceedings to create awareness and to support the World Humanitarian Day. Beyoncé is a raging feminist. Her songs shout out power and leverage to women. Not only this, her band, which accompanies her during concerts and tours is an all women band- The Suga Mamas.

“You know, equality is a myth, and for some reason, everyone accepts the fact that women don’t make as much money as men do. I don’t understand that. Why do we have to take a backseat? I truly believe that women should be financially independent from their men. And let’s face it. Money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define value. They define what’s sexy. And men define what’s feminine. It’s ridiculous”, are feminists listening and falling in love with her already?!

Spirits roar when listening to her songs, she kills it on the stage, her dance moves are legendary, her red carpet presence creates headlines, she is the most nominated woman in Grammy’s history, has the highest grossing world tour of the decade and is the most powerful female musician of 2015.

Apart from being People’s magazine’s ‘World’s Most Beautiful Woman’ in 2012, she’s a doting wife, a loving mother, and an entrepreneur. Beyoncé is sexy, fierce and all things grand and we love her to bits!
