If you think it’s time for you to leave the digicams behind and experiment with some professional photography, then the solution  lies with Canon 1000D, the first DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. Canon 1000 D launched in 2003 is one of the basic models of DSLRs. It is a camera designed specially for learners.

It has features such as 10.1 Mega Pixel resolutions– which is very basic, yet provides great clarity. It also has Live View- which means that one can use the LCD display as the viewfinder. This feature is of great use while shooting extreme low angles and high-angle shots. It is equipped with an 18-55mm zoom lens. Additional lenses can be used for better and diverse effects. It also has a convenient mode of data storage which is the SD card. This enables you to download your pictures on the laptop without the use of the card. This also means that you do not have to load the camera software. This method allows only easy access of pictures, however, for editing and other functions a software needs to be installed in the camera.

It also has a 2.5 inch LCD monitor and a 7 point auto focus. It has two in-built formats –JPEG and RAW and also boasts an Auto ISO adjust. It has the following modes: Full Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close up, Sports, Night, No Flash, Program AE, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Manual and Auto Depth of Field. The Canon 1000 D, however, does not have the video recording feature. Also, it has a 7 point auto focus as opposed to a 9 point auto focus which a Canon 450 D has. In these aspects, the Canon 1000D is a step lower than the 450 D.

Canon 1000D is suitable for outdoor photography because of its light body weight (only 450 gm) and sturdy structure. It is a user- friendly camera and it doesn’t take long for anyone to figure out the different features and modes once the basic concepts of the shutter speed, aperture and ISO are clear. It has some very interesting in-built effects including the monochrome effect which allows the user to click pictures in black and white. The in-built modes with their specifications of ISO and shutter speed make clicking pictures very enjoyable. The Portrait and Landscape modes yield very interesting results. The manual mode is ideal for learning the importance and effects of variability of the components of photography.

1000D is an ideal camera for amateur photographers. It is affordable and provides the user the opportunity to understand and learn the basics of photography. Once you understand the functioning of this camera perfectly, then you can graduate onto more advanced cameras. Experimentation and practice will give you the results which you desire.

Finally, for all those who wish to become an ace photographer one day, this camera will help you take that first step towards professional photography.
