Commonwealth Games and Delhi

The XIX commonwealth games which are being held in Delhi this October clearly seem to be more of a political event that a sporting one. The preparations have been going on since February 10th, 2005 when the Organizing Committee for the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi was formed, headed by Mr. Suresh Kalmadi in consultation with a group of ministers and CGF.

When the Country came to a standstill…

On July 5, 2010, the country was put on a standstill, by the joint power of the Shiv Sena and BJP. The two parties joined forces and declared a Bandh, in protest of the hike in fuel and food prices.

Bharat Bandh: In My Opinion

A bandh is a Hindi term which means ‘closure’ or ‘closing’. As a political tool, it’s a form of protest that involves striking from work and shutting down places of business for the duration of the bandh.

Justice for Bhopal

It was an 8 to 88 crowd’s rally demonstration outside the court, demanding the arrest of former Union Carbide CEO Warren Anderson. On one side, the BJP accused the Congress government, under Rajiv Gandhi, for helping the accused escape, and on the other side, Congress blamed the then Madhya Pradesh CM, Arjun Singh government and protesters burnt his effigy.

Who’s the Culprit?

The verdict on the Bhopal gas case has been disturbing me. I strongly feel for the affected victims and their families and, through this article, I would like to give my perspective on this travesty.
