Bhansali-vs-Shetty

Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale will release this Friday and we’re super excited!

Both the movies belong to two different genres. Bajirao Mastani is a love story set in a period drama and Dilwale is an out and out commercial film.

The Dilwale Trailer starts with our dearest King Khan standing in a fancy leather jacket and a beautiful Kajol striding by in that patent flowy saree that we love on her. Just as we were starting to get the DDLJ vibes, Shetty takes the thunder and a whole list of movies that he has directed flashes on the screen. No, Rohit, we didn’t want to revisit the trauma!

Yet, the trailer looks very colorful with everything that a Rohit Shetty movie has, larger than life music videos, luxury cars flying in the sky, thrilling action sequences and a tear jerking family bond. Where Kajol and SRK reinvent the old magic, the newbies Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan ooze freshness. And we love the chemistry between SRK and Varun the best as they play brothers. The trailer doesn’t fail to maintain the mystery of the plot with SRK threatning to kill Kajol at the end of the trailer.

We can all predict how the movie ends; families reuniting and torn lovers reconciling but we all have a soft corner for such movies, don’t we?! What we loved the most about the trailer was Johnny Lever. We’ve missed him! The movie also features Boman Irani, Varun Sharma, Sanjay Mishra among others.

SRK fans can hardly contain their excitement for the movie, especially with Khan replying to each and every Tweet on twitter.

Bhansali has had an impeccable record, delivering substance movies and bringing out the best in every actor. Bajirao Mastani has been released overseas and seems to be receiving positive response from the audience.

The trailer teleports us to a battlefield in the 18th century, the filming and effects are incredibly beautiful and captivating. Deepika and Ranveer’s chemistry is as vibrant on-screen as it is off-screen. Ranveer has expended his electric energy to transform into the Peshwa warrior. His hard work shows in his grandeur as Bajirao, the most influential Maratha Peshwa. He nails the warrior dance in ‘Malhari’. This music video from the movie is making quite the stir.

Deepika is elegant as ever; she is playing the role of the warrior princess Mastani who was Rau’s (As Bajirao was popularly known) second wife. Her costumes and styling reflect royalty and she seems to have gotten into the character with sheer grace. She never fails to get us weak in the knees!

Priyanka Chopra plays the vital role of Kashibai, and looks absolutely smashing as she waves the victory flag in the beginning of the trailer. The trailer is sure to give you goosebumps!

The music of the movie fits the plot of this period drama and sounds wonderful. And the audience is certainly liking the Priyanka-Deepika dance fusion in ‘Pinga’, with the groovy Lavani style. Bajirao Mastani also features Mahesh Manjrekar and Milind Soman in pivotal roles.

Both the trailers got mixed reviews from the audience, and as they belong to two distinct genres it’s going be a tough choice picking which one to watch this weekend.

Which movie trumps the other or if both give each other a tough fight, only time will tell!

Keep watching this space for the movie reviews of ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
