Dear Bapu,
Years have passed since you fought for our freedom but now it seems as if we are going back to those days of being servants… Servants of a corrupt system, greedy leaders and helpless democrats…
India, which is known as the world’s biggest democratic country, is indignantly hollow from its core. We the people do remember you in our books and speeches, but when it comes to real life, Gandhi has become a forgotten hero of the past. The great India, whose foundations were laid by you and many other freedom fighters, is now built with the worst quality bricks made of cheat and injustice.
The poor become poorer and the rich get richer. We as Indians are still busy competing with our neighbours, but have forgotten how to fight the state of poverty and illiteracy, which has blindfolded our society in the name of “culture”.
Now our culture is not teaching us to rise against what is wrong, but to stay quiet when wrong is done. Hiding the truth and raising the fake is our duty. Yet we shout, “Our India is great!”
If u can hear us, then hear our plea. Please let Gandhi be born again, let the revolution start again, let him fire spark again but this time, let it free ourselves from our own selves, our own people.
Regards,
Sharon Immanuel
