Divisive Politics of MNS

thackrey.jpgOn Saturday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray had verbally assaulted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for being more interested in Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.

Thackeray said that although Bachchan had gained the superstardom status in Mumbai, his heart was more disposed towards Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra. Incidentally, Thackrey doesn’t understand that times have changed. Modern India has no place for such insane people like him. Raj Thackrey is indeed, not the right person to test the patriotic skills of Amitabh Bachchan or as for that matter, any other Indian. Such statements are terribly against the spirit of unity of the country, as extreme regionalism hurts national unity, of which Thackeray’s erstwhile party has always been a claimant.

MNS Party workers are making a hellish situation for the innocent people who come to Mumbai to work and earn their living. A reminder: This is the same party which came in support of molesters of the New Year eve case at JW Marriot in Mumbai.

Actually, there are no real agendas for MNS and they want to put up the image of “son of soil” before the next elections in the state. However, it has failed to understand that the Mumbaikars are no fools and that they can foresee what MNS has done for the city.

I would like to question Mr.Raj Thackeray about his step towards creating a Marathi vs non Marathi regionalism in the state. Instead of focusing their energies on problems in Maharashtra, they tend to crave for just the 15 minutes of media fame, thus segregating the whole country on basis of religion, race and castes. Do North Indians who come to Maharashtra disrespect their native state, and likewise, Maharashtrians who settle outside? I would reply in the negative. The feeling of belongingness to one’s place of birth doesn’t go away with time. What about drugs, human trafficking and rising crime graph, Mr. Thackeray? I would not exactly call them Big B’s headaches. Mr.Thackeray himself seems to have forgotten about the pathetic plights of the farmers in Vidarbha .

If he is against North Indians, then he is creating yet another Assam in Maharashtra. He wants to revive his political fortune, but at the cost of social harmony and peace. It is an unfortunate and dangerous trend which needs to be curbed immediately.
