What does Freedom means…….

According to DICTIONARY its the power to act, speak or think without externally imposed restraints but do you really agree that this is what exactly meant in some of our lives too?

Rita Mehra (31), Lives in Chandni Chowk. Her Family were in felicitous state
when they got the news of Rita’s pregnancy. Rita’s husband and herself
were never curious to  know about the sex of the child… but… her
in-laws does. Though Sex Determination is very much banned in INDIA but
you know how India works. Rita was then forced to abort because it was a
Girl child. I m not writing against Female foeticide but I m writing
about Rita’s Freedom. Doesn’t she have the freedom to even give birth to her baby with full rights??

Hemant (26), Bombay living boy. He was very stylish and altruistic and was in
love with a boy named Rakesh (28). He was in middle of his college
studies when he realized that he is a gay. Whenever they would meet up
in society they always pretended to be just acquaintances because Rakesh
never wanted  the society to know about their relationship because this
could affect his family too. He has hid his love for over past three
years just because he is a gay. I am not writing for gay rights but doesn’t he have the freedom to express his love?? Isn’t he a Human Being??

Himani (22), a kanpur living ambitious girl. She was in college when she was
forced to get married by her parents just because they had 4 daughters.
Himani had her own dreams of working in an MNC even after marriage but
she was denied to do so from her would be in laws and
husband…because….girls after marriage are meant to stay at home!!
Though these questions are never been asked from a guy but doesnt a girl has the freedom to live her own life with dignity through out??

20th October 2011, 10:15pm in one of the busiest streets of Mumbai  where
Keenan (25) and Reuban (28)  paid their life to death for  standing by
and protecting the dignity of their female friends because they were
teased by drunken eve teasers. But there were 100 folks who preferred to
be the mute spectator. Why?? Don’t they have freedom to even raise
their voice against that gruesome situation?? Cant a Lady has the
freedom to step out her home when the sun dawns??

Though we have reached a half century of our Independence but do we really own it? Freedom comes from ”power and support”. In all above cases u can make out these two factors very easily where mute spectators are acting as supporters and perpetrates as overruling power. WE
are the one who have lost the keys of freedom because we have only
lend  perpetrates these keys, its our mistake only…mine and yours. We
need to change what we think and how we think because every revolution
begins in mind and this could only be done if we our united and believe what we r doing could bring a change in society.

All I am anticipating is that we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom because

A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.

Just think about it!!
