Godman Really?

asaram-bapu-and-delhi-rapeAsaram Bapu Blames The victim for Her Rape

There is a new trend in India. The trend of making sexist comments. First it was the politicians like Abhijeet Mukherjee, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and now the religious leaders.

“The five or six drunken men were not the only ones guilty. The girl was also responsible…” “She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop. This could have saved her dignity and life. Can one hand clap? I don’t think so,” Asaram Bapu said.

My first reaction to the statement was “Are you f******* kidding me!” And then I went ahead and googled his name because sorry to say “bapuji” I have never heard your name before.

After going through various newspapers, I found out that Asaram Bapu is some Hindu spiritual leader who calls himself “Godman”. He mostly works in tribal areas and helps these tribals in converting to Hinduism.

He has 300 ashrams across various cities in India, and also in the United States of America, with lakhs of followers and admirers who also provide the funds for his ashrams.

This is not the first time Asaram has been a part of a controversy. He has been accused of land encroachment and death of two ten year olds, in the past.

And now he is in the news for making statements against the Delhi gang rape victim. Here is the full video:

Obviously, people weren’t going to clap at the end of this speech. So, the Indians took to social media to show their discontent for the so called sant.

If I am not wrong, Asaram himself has been charged for committing rape.  A former member of the Asaram ashram, Raju Chandak, claimed that he had seen Asaram Bapu in objectionable positions with women. And in response to this, Asaram tried to get Raju killed.

What does the Godman have to say about this incident? The woman did not call him “bhaiya” and thats why he tried to molest her?

For your kind information Mr. Godman, I call a shopkeeper and auto driver bhaiya, does that mean that he is not going to look at me from top to bottom with dirty intentions? I don’t think so.

Because I have faced situations when a shopkeeper keeps staring at my b***s; doesn’t this show what these so called “brothers” of mine think of me?

Clearly you need a reality check Mr. Godman because you seem to be living in a false world of your own.

Its time you step out of your ashram and see how this society works.
