Humanity Staggers When Shots Are Fired Mercilessly

Orlando Attacks

The world got shaken up and cried collectively, when there was occurrence of gruesome November 2015 attacks on Paris. A series of coordinated attacks shook the city and cast a huge spell of terror and blood all over the world. As if taking from its cue, we witnessed the barbaric and inhumane attack in Orlando that caused the death of possibly more than 50 people.

Our country is empathetic with all these terrorists acts that are constituted in the name of ‘God’. After having shot down by bullets by a synchronised attack in Mumbai, we all understood the pain of various other countries and people. These attacks are nothing but an imposing face of inhumanity which is slowly spreading its highly-armed wings all over the world. Various countries have recognized the extremism of terror as a major threat, next in line with the climate changes, both of which are slowly halting the way our nature functions.

A mass shooting occurred inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States. The shooting resulted in 50 deaths, including the gunman who was killed by police after a three-hour standoff, with another 53 injured. The attack was the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman against LGBT people in U.S. history, and also the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. since the September 11 attacks. The assailant was identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, an American born to parents of Afghan background. During the attack, he swore his allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Forcing the ideologies possessed by the apparent ‘jihadis’ on others, the terrorist organisation has long since brainwashed the new entrants with regressive and inhumane thoughts. In accordance to the ideologies possessed and passed on, homosexuality doesn’t find a mention in the holy book and hence has to be ridiculed upon, as much as the other verses that put major emphasis on kindness and being upholders of humanity.

This specific shooting forces us to come face to face with the hazardous ideologies that are constantly gripping the world and slowly manifesting themselves in the vulnerable minds of people who are prone to such coaxing or are mesmerised by the power of it.

It won’t be a shocker if Donald Trump actually wins the Presidential race this term. His attacks on Muslims and vowing to rid them from the country, somehow, coordinating itself with the shooting, will act as a catalyst and work in his favour. Majority of the people are vague when it comes to the idea of terrorism that is borne out of a heinous interpretation of Islam. Confusing the ideologies professed by ISIS to that of Muslims in general is going to be toxic for the entire community and to humanity in general.

It’s no rocket science to conclude that the world is facing tough times. There are obviously certain things more important than staggering economy or winning some election. It is time for us to stand together and face the threat collectively, rather than pinpoint the occurrence of it on one-another.

There has to be inclusion of various communities that have been shunned, with time, due to religion, gender, sexuality, colour, creed, or origin. People must come together to thwart the calamity, because when bullets are fired they won’t be as selective as we are while accepting people.

May the soul of the victims rest in peace, the innocent victims of a war that is inhumane from the start.
