So Jose Mourinho has parted ways with Chelsea. And ever since he did… there have been plenty of talks about how big a loss it will be for the club. His superb record with Porto prior to joining Chelsea only did justice to his ‘no holds barred’ personality with the term ‘attitude’ slapped across his forehead. A proven winner, the club’s charismatic manager left Stamford Bridge last month, after a final bust-up with owner Roman Abramovich.

Mourinho’s long feud with the Russian billionaire reached what can be called the expected and the inevitable climax, and the decision would be termed by both the parties as ‘mutual’.

Mourinho’s reign as Chelsea boss would best be termed as dramatic. Chelsea covered 3 seasons under ‘The Special One’ and won two league titles( the first one came after a 50 year wait), an FA Cup and two League Cups during his tenure – A record that would have plenty of clubs throughout the World pitching for him.

The Portuguese master strategist would be best remembered by English football as the mischievous sprite who longed to leave a mark on the sport in England

Though an untimely exit for him, Mourinho has indeed managed to leave quite an impact at Stamford Bridge and his habit of causing controversy whenever he opened his mouth may well be the fact fans will never forget him.

The highly combustible individual was full of self-belief, something that was evident through his self-made theories which he executed successfully more often than not. Freedom to work was the least he could ask for as a coach…

But, Abramovich’s refusal to sign Kaka instead of Andriy Shevchenko(who has till date done nothing to prove his worth with the Blues) in 2006 could be seen as the first visible sign of disagreement in the Russian’s and Mourinho’s vision.

Today Chelsea face an indisputable crisis and a potentially dangerous situation simply because star players – Terry, Lampard and Drogba among others were known to share a ‘special’ bond with Mourinho… who molded them into internationally acclaimed performers.

They will definitely feel the loss, go a little down on morale. And this, would only add to the problems that Avram Grant –the man who has to fill in the large shoes of ‘The Special one’.

It would be interesting to see where the Portuguese is unveiled next… but wherever he shifts base, the surface can expect some shake up.
