Kolkatta Knight Riders – A Profile

Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo re Is the anthem for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and when translated, means “We will do it, fight for it, win it”.

This indeed is the anthem for the Kolkata Knight Riders which, when translated, means “We will do it, fight for it, win it”. It was perfectly established at the opening match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Banglore Royal Challengers. Shahrukh Khan, a.k.a., King Khan, is the IPL franchise owner of the Knight Riders. The owners as mentioned is Shahrukh, Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd, along with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jai Mehta. The CEO is Joy Bhattacharjee. As many teams came to the foray with their flashing reds, yellows and blues, Khan decided to step out of the usual and kept black and gold as his official colour. In a Kolkata paper he said, “We have a golden helmet that will be given to the Man of the Match it is of real gold and weighs seven kilograms. I think we need the great Khali for it”. What is evident is that he is combining his skills of entertainment and business management, to make the matches as interesting for him, the crowds, and the team members. Foreign players are in abundance in all teams and same is the case with Kolkata Team, with the Head Coach being John Buchanan. These include the West Indies Opener Chris Gayle along with Brendon McCullum, who played tremendously well in the first match itself gaining the Highest Individual Score. Australian batsman Ricky Ponting is also in the team but has not been able to show his talent until now. He has not scored many runs for the team as yet, except for the last match played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians where he managed to grab a respectable number of runs. Our Indian players include the captain himself Sourav Ganguly, young player Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Wriddhimaan Saha, Ashok Dinda and Debarata Das. Also present are Murali Kartik , Ishant Sharma and Ajit Agarkar David Hussey has been playing good cricket until now along with Pakistani players Iqbal Abdullah and Mohammed Hafiz .
It sure is an amazing team with good batsmen and bowlers but the team only won two matches till now and has lost two. Although the King Khan wants to win the championship, the team certainly needs to become spirited and strengthened enough to fight the competitors like Chennai who are holding on to their matches pretty well and are winning all through till now.

As Khan also points out in the commercials “Meri team mein 11 gunde hain” certainly its true but they must fight it to death to keep their charm and charisma alive for long. As for the future matches,I hope they fight them and win them!
