Lifestyle Diseases

DiseasesLife is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.

– Carl Sandburg

Human longevity can trigger a variety of diseases – also known as ‘lifestyle’ diseases. These diseases appear to increase in frequency as countries become more industrialized and people live longer. Examples of these diseases are Alzheimer’s disease, atherosclerosis, cancer, chronic liver disease or cirrhosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, nephritis or chronic renal failure, osteoporosis, acne, stroke, depression and obesity.

These heinous diseases are fueled by factors in diet, lifestyle, and the house. Smoking, drug abuse, alcohol and lack of physical exercise also play their parts in the promotion of these diseases.

The onset of these lifestyle diseases is insidious, they take years to develop, and once encountered are not easily cured. They are chiefly a result of an inappropriate relationship of people with their environment. These diseases tend to exhibit themselves upon adults in age group between 25-45 years old. Till today, death was caused by sudden onset conditions. Sudden Onset conditions are easily curable by Allopathic Medicine.

Today, conditions that develop gradually with age cause more deaths. These insidious diseases do NOT lend themselves to a quick fix by Allopathic Medicine.

So there we are, after a brief overview of our problems and the complexities arising from their sub-variations. I would not like to go into detail with advisory explanations. Rather, I would still like to touch upon the possibilities of a healthy existence and quote Twain as he once said, and quite remarkably too – “A healthy mindset is actually is prize key to a lifelong of good time! “. On a closing note, I would like to suggest to my readers to delve into the possibilities of a peaceful existence and ask themselves – “Is it really that tough to lead a balanced mental and social lifestyle? “.
