Nature’s Wrath

I drown…
I drown in the black rivers,
Taken by the dark winds
To the cold heart of the peaks
And from there I melt
Under the scorching, merciless rays,
Taken in again by the restless waters
Leaving me stranded
On the empty shore…

‘Tis when I realize
what the darker shade of nature be
A fool to challenge her, ashamed
for what am I but a weathered leaf,
to fall and die if her hand I leave
In guilt, on the blowing sand I pray
and in my shame
I drown again…
