Osama Dead, Kasab Alive

“Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children.” With these words Barack Obama America’s president stirred the world.

Osama was killed at Abottabad, a garish town in Pakistan. The world’s best kept secret mission finally put an end to the world’s most wanted man.
Surprisingly, Pakistan had no knowledge of the mission until it was over. Obama said that they had known that Osama was in the million dollar mansion in Pakistan since last August but Obama wanted to ensure that no innocent civilians lost their lives.

America even guarded the mission from  Pakistan. When the plane flew in the territory of Pakistan their radar systems were jammed. In just forty minutes the mission was over. Osama was dead.

Pakistan didn’t know how to react. A day later they came up with that their dignity and self esteem was attacked. To which clearly Americans refuse to even apologize. What could Pakistan do about it?

The country rather had to face embarrassment from the world. Pakistan clearly denied that they had any knowledge of Osama’s presenence in the country. This is unbelievable. Well, certainly there is mud on their face.

Wow, I sometimes wonder had India known this, what would have happened? It would have just taken a few more years to figure Osama’s hide out. Probably when he would be old and would have died in next few days on his own. But that is okay, at least they would have found him.
Firstly the mission would have never been a secret. We have to go by all the diplomatic norms. After 26/11, India, despite having all the proof in the world, couldn’t even as much as touch Pakistan.

What holds our country? Why? Justice delayed is justice denied. Why keep Kasab alive for so long? Crores of rupees have been spent on him. We could have paid the money to those poor Air India pilots who fly planes for more than 72 hours. Or, we could have used the money for aids research. These questions really affect the youth today. Everything in our country is taken for granted.

Pakistan warned India if they did undertake any operation like America. India would face strict action. Hmmm…..India didn’t even take strict action when the entire episode of Kargil happened. Many soldiers died protecting the country, but their martyrdom was put to shame when Mr. Musharraf blatantly admitted in his book that it was deliberate. Now, who would want to work for such a country? No wonder there is brain drain.

What America did no other country can do. But I don’t know what to think about our country at one point of time. They survived the sanctions imposed by America. On the other hand, it tolerates Pakistan to the degree of irritation. Why? What for?

We have undoubtedly a lot of potential. But disturbance will never let us grow. Economically India has proved to be a strong nation. But peace disruption will make the stock markets unstable. Investments will drop. They are already affected; that is why China is banking in our losses.
We have to think  of a solution, fast. And all those politicians who wanted a burial ceremony for Osama should be sent at his grave in the sea to do the needful.

Let there be peace and progress.

Priyanka Gandhi
