The pictures are very impressive. Especially the eyespy by Bhumi.
An excellent array of colors and so much of creativity!

gautam on April 5th, 2008 at 12:28 pm |

bhumi and devan, you have done a brilliant work. keep it up guys. looking forward to more of your works.

Astik on April 5th, 2008 at 8:34 pm |

The photographs that caught my attention-

2 & 6 by Devan
9 & 13 by Bhumi

some of the untitled ones are also good…please put your name next time.
However if im not mistaken they seem to be Jessica Sadana’s….prove me wrong Jess!!

shiv ahuja on April 5th, 2008 at 9:29 pm |

nanda kishore on April 6th, 2008 at 5:07 pm |

the pics of devan are the best in the lot as they classify wholly as pschedelic.
the first two of bhumi too belong in this category, eye spy being simply jaw-dropping..
shiv, ur pics look more like paintings, i have no idea how you took them!

shiv ahuja on April 6th, 2008 at 5:25 pm |

thanks..!

well the landscape is pretty straight forward,i was lucky to get such colours.
the second one is a door,
the third one is a couple of lights from my UPS,taken handheld on a long shutter, then the black background was replaced by white in photoshop.
the fourth one was again a lucky shot,i put on a polarizer to darken some of the blues in the sky, while i was shooting from the aircraft,as soon as i pointed to the window i got those psy colours…

the last one, with the little kid is also a long exposure, exposed for the child and then for someone’s blue head(it was holi) so it kinda turned out half and half…

mahesh on April 6th, 2008 at 10:11 pm |

Parul/Sadana nice very nice…my fave is the one of what is that sareeeeess or freshly died material and the shadow below…even though everything is essentially solid it feels very liquid…errrrm yeh liquid :)

Nice.

Astik on April 7th, 2008 at 10:53 am |

Correction-

The (previously) unamed pics by Shiv were superb. I think you’ve captured the sense of the theme very well. Im looking forward to your next work.

Parul pics 25 and 28 seem out of the box. They stand out.

And Jessica…i think you can do a lot better.

shiv ahuja on April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 am |

thank you..!
@prerna..no there is no effect, its a polarizing filter on the lens, which is used to make the shades of blue a bit deeper, but when i pointed the lens out of the window, maybe due to the diffraction/dispersion in the glass those colours occured…!

Now THIS is one funky album.

Parul, I especially liked your first two photos. The movement is perfect!

Gautam’s first photo in the album is really cool.

Devan, kya baat hai! Loved the green one with the man. and another that you’ve taken in a crowded market.

Shiv- For some reason your photos do look like paintings! The one with the little boy is my favourite.

Jessica! 29 : ) Bahaut khoob!

Oh and THANK YOu once again! :)

wat is psychedelic about the photographs 1,3, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15…

i mean guys plz look in dictionary for the meaning of word psychedelic.

your photographs are good and your photography is excellent

but
but
they dont match with ur theme.

ur earlier album EMOTIONS was pathetic. all the emotions showed in ur pictures were fake.

guys i want u all to improve.

just think before u upload ur images. use ur logic plz. dont get overwhelmed by ur photography.

parul on April 11th, 2008 at 3:09 pm |

every person’s perception to any particular thing differs from the others and that of the usual, on the basis of their socialization patterns.there are subjectivities that exist everywhr and that is what makes a theme or topic interesting ..what u can see as something..can mean something other to another totally.

if one comes down to explaining what is psychedelic abt the wrk..the beauty gets lost..sometimes its just the vision and not words that define things..words..sometimes spoil them.
i wud agree with u that emotions was not very impressive..but also its a very difficult theme to photograph..

…………………….

shiv on April 11th, 2008 at 4:05 pm |

@RAHUL.
No one here is overwhelmed by their photography, thats the reason why there are themes and people contribute right?
and secondly, i’m glad you made that comment, thats what this section is about right? opinions.
if you do however have a negative opinion, instead of bashing it, it comes across much better if you substantiate it with ways to better the topic of criticism.
Its easy to say something is crappy if you don’t understand it and if you do understand it,and continue to think its crap, well then you must really have a reason to think that way,and should put it across for the benefit of the person who created it,
the only reason that i put pictures here is for opinions, but not opinions about whether a shot is good or bad,but opinions like…maybe you should have composed this way,or maybe you should have used a faster shutter or maybe you could have waited for a while to get a better composition. Basically something that helps me,constructive criticism as opposed to plain bashing/appreciation.Something that would make YOU relate to the photograph more if something about it were to be changed.
