PK Posters: An Unconventional Promotional Approach

Rajkumar Hirani’s third poster of PK released yesterday. The suspense has been building ever since the poster countdown began when very intriguing and unconventional posters featuring Aamir Khan started releasing in breaks. According to the reports, there are 10 such poster that will promote the film; three down as of now. While the film’s cast includes some of Bollywood’s most admired actors like Boman Irani, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt and Sushant Singh Rajput, the previous two posters featured a solo Aamir. The third poster that released yesterday finally gave a glimpse of Sanjay Dutt as well.

The look of Aamir in each of the posters is unconventional; his expression also has much to say about the film. However, there has been no revelation of any sort as to what the film has to offer. Rumour has it that it will be a satire on Hindu Gods and godmen but drawing from the posters in which Aamir is found in different kinds of attire, it is hard to say whether there is any truth to it.

Sanjay Dutt’s look in the third poster is similar to that of Aamir’s look from the second poster; clothed in a reddish coloured Gujarati dress holding a prop (trumpet). While neither the trailer nor the teaser of the film is out, producers have used this unique promotional approach that has found a strong ground in the curiosity of fans. As most of the posters feature a solo Aamir, the film like most of his other movies, is likely to be Aamir centric.

Curiosity is afloat with PK’s posters and expectations have been rising high. The film is scheduled for release on December 19, and hopefully it won’t be a disappointment as proven by other hyped movies of this year like Mary Kom and Finding Fanny.
