Something to call your own

Life is all about choices, the good, the bad and the ugly. The conviction that most of them have been made by you is your biggest triumph. As a woman, you are a daughter, a wife, and last but by no means the least, a mother! Somewhere, along the way you are also an employee. Juggling all these roles is fulfilling, but it comes with its share of ups and downs.

The journey begins with you in a role and it’s always linked to someone or something. However there comes a time, when you want to carve a role just for yourself. Something to call your own…… with no expectations – that space and solitude you need,to just be you.

I call it blogging. Blogging for me is a happy place filled with even happier thoughts! A place to explore my interests…….. be it home décor, travel or photography. We all need a nonjudgmental platform to vent! It’s amazing the thoughts that come into your head when you sit down to write. I have interacted with some amazing people in the blogosphere. These are smart and talented women who are handling their professional and personal lives with an amazing zest for life. I have learnt a lot from them. Some cynics might say that’s its strange to call people who my ou have never met “friends”.  However, I do believe these relationships are real, of course, some more than others. Every day when I sit with my cup of tea and write, I look forward to hearing from my friends. The discussion and sharing of ideas is what makes it all so worthwhile. They may not be sitting across from me in my house, but their voices are just as real.

The best part about having virtual friends……you don’t need to dress up to meet them. My typical day with a five year old and a two year old is challenging to say the least.  Their energy is both endearing and exhausting. Once they are in bed at night, I retreat into my dreamy world of “My Dream Canvas”. As for my spouse, I think the tiffs we now have, end up with me walking away and switching on the laptop! He may not admit it, but I think he is relieved to have my blog as a part of our lives. A little less verbal dialogue and less sulking ensues, as my energies get spent elsewhere!!  There you go…….another blogging advantage……the secret to marital bliss.

Suffice to say, I love blogging. I encourage all of you to try it. It’s addictive yet uncomplicated and extremely gratifying. For me, it’s a canvas bringing my everyday thoughts to life. Join the blogosphere and unleash the hidden writer within you. You will enjoy every minute of it.
