If your password is on this list, we suggest you changed it right away!

In the last twelve months, we’ve witnessed online security breaches at the highest level. Sony’s valuable data was reportedly hacked by North Korean experts in protest against a movie that ridicules North Korean Leader, Kim Jong-un, much to the distress of President Obama.

You’d be living under a rock if you aren’t aware of the infamous iCloud photo leaks that targeted celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, and Scarlett Johansson and a host of other world famous personalities.  In the age of the internet, having a weak password could get you in trouble with your partners, parents or boss! Recently SplashData (leading supplier of security applications and services) released a list of the “25 most popular passwords of 2014”. The organization analyzed 3.3 million passwords that trickled out into the public last year. This list proves that not everyone is innovative when it comes to setting passwords. I’m sure we can think of better passwords “123456” and “dragon”. There are some rather ironic ones on the list too like “letmein” and “trustno1”.

Here is the list released by SplashData:

1.123456

2. password

3. 12345

4. 12345678

5. qwerty

6. 123456789

7. 1234

8. baseball

9. dragon

10. football

11. 1234567

12. monkey

13. letmein

14. abc123

15. 111111

16. mustang

17. access

18. shadow

19. master

20. michael

21. superman

22. 696969

23. 123123

24. batman

25. trustno1

We do realize that a lot of sites ask for 7-10 characters for your password. But why not spend sixty-seconds and come up with a creative one rather than regretting it later, right?
