The Rise And Rise Of Bangladesh Cricket Team

It is often said that in sports, never to judge a player based on his/her past performances alone. So if a player isn’t performing well at a point of time then it doesn’t mean that the player doesn’t have any scope of improvement in future.

This is the beauty of sports- the constant striving of the sportspersons towards newer accomplishments in their respective games. One can easily see the recent performances of Bangladesh cricket team at the international level. The team which didn’t appear strong enough to win against the teams with greater records came out to show that they are no longer going to stay at the bottom of the points table.

Time and again, Bangladesh cricket team has shown scintillating performances and has left the people worldwide biting their nails. The breath taking comeback by the Bangladeshi team came to light only after the team won against the top teams like Pakistan, India and South Africa.

A cricket enthusiast can never forget the loss India faced from the Bangladesh team in 2007 cricket world cup. Bangladesh had won by 5 wickets where Tamim Iqbal scored an audacious innings of 53 runs from 51 balls. In the same match Mashrafe Mortaza had taken 4 wickets and kept on creating troubles for the Indian side.

In the match against South Africa, recently, Tamim Iqbal led a strong partnership with Soumya Sarkar of 154 runs. Their partnership has been marked as the best for any wicket in the record books of the Bangladesh team. Mashrafe Mortaza picked his 200th ODI wicket, achieving this feat with Shakib al Hasan. In January this year, Hasan was acknowledged as the best all-rounder in all the three formats of cricket. With records breaking by each passing day, Bangladesh is showing the world what team work is all about.

Bangladesh white-washed the Pakistan cricket team by 3-0 while India faced 2 defeats out of three matches they played. Recently, South Africa suffered a blow by losing the entire series. Adding to the basket of achievements was the win against Zimbabwe. The cricket enthusiast nation is proud of its cricket team which now ranks at number 7 in the ICC cricket rankings.

A cricket critic recently said, “One learns from a better player, to defeat him in his own game.” Such is the style of Bangladesh team- it has learned to play under pressure and newbies have made the team even stronger. Mustafizur Rahman sent 6 players back to pavilion in the second match against India in June this year.

With such remarkable performances Bangladesh has qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. In the coming days the good show is expected from the team as they are ready as never before to take on the best teams in the world. Well done Bangladesh! And a ‘Stay Alert’ sign to the leading cricketing nations.
