Being a journalist, you get to cover almost all the important events happening in the city. And this is exactly what I have been experiencing ever since I started working.

First, it was the Porter Prize and then the Youth Marketing Summit 2012.

The summit was held at The Metropolitan Hotel in Delhi on October 12, 2012. By the way, only the name of the hotel sounds nice, the food there sucks to the core.

The venue was full of energy and buzz as there were only young entrepreneurs present (just FYI, none of the guys were hot *sigh*).

The objective of the Youth Marketing Summit is to showcase brands which have redefined the youth marketing space through innovative ideas.

Sounds boring? Eh!

It sort of was, because I did not understand a word during the panel discussions.

The fun began when we started interviewing some famous personalities like Mr. Shashi Tharoor, Ram Mirchandani and Ashwin Mushran. Big names right? So were their hearts, and in case of Mr. Tharoor his speech also (no offence meant).

Anyways, talking about Mr. Mirchandani and Mr.Mushran; we even had the chance to chat with them after the interview sessions were over. They were sweet enough to click pictures with the team and did not have any airs about them.

The Youth Marketing Summit conducted various panel discussions:

  • Learnings for Youth Marketers from Film Makers
  • Reality Shows: How can channels and advertisers lure the youth – Challenges & Opportunities
  • Role of Digital & Social Media in Connecting with Young India
  • The Next Destination: Driving Youth to Luxury

Following the panel discussions were the Youth Marketing Awards which were pretty much taken by the Viacom 18 network.

Most effective activation strategy: 7UP

Most effective sponsorship and branded content: Viacom 18

Best sustained youth Brand Campaign: Mindshare

Most Innovative youth product of the year: Mindshare

Boldest Youth Brand of the Year: Titan industries

Best Media Youth Brand: Viacom 18 Media

Hearty congratulations to the winners!

Anyways the boring night came to an end with an awesome surprise. Just for covering the event, we were given free passes for the NH7 Weekender which was being held the next day (don’t you wish you were in my place).
